Sharing the Blame: Is it users of SEO apps or is it Google?
I admit. Before finding out about SEO tools and website marketing business, I considered that Google was the best thing ever. I Googled everything from people, to pictures, to news to obscure things and blindly trusted the findings. Then I heard about SEO software and an entire e-commerce focused on site optimization, and my convictions changed. But even before that, having done a bit of introspective analysis, I got a feeling that search engines, Google included, know far from all, and share with the users a tiny portion of that.
My search experiences soon persuaded me that Flikr is a higher quality image search source, that with the assistance of RSS I can have nice news coverage without the need to rummage through Google SERPs (rummaging is more appropriate than Google search), and people search is best managed by Facebook. It seems that whenever I search for weird objects on Google, the results are often messy, to put it mildly. Try Googling for SEO apps and other SEO connected topics on Google and you are just about prepared to surrender your sanity. I mean, tell me, what’s the relationship between SEO tools and online education websites or Internet casinos? Fortunately, in my frustrations.
So when news of seo software review and the whole field built around it came into my modest worldview, my doubts about sites surfacing out on the top of Google increased virally. Do they deserve to be there and who is to blame, Google or site promoters using SEO programs. The moral dilemma is huge. Do I stop using my SEO google ranking or do I seize using Google instead? I resolved that I can’t quit Google just yet. At least not until the worthy contender enters the game. For now I will keep juggling between Blekko, Google and the above methods to complement the SERP mess that Google is. And, oh,yes, I will keep playing with my SEO programs.
Frankly, SEO products is the reason why folks like me get discovered on the net. Sophisticated as they are, Google Web spiders are not likely to find some little guy and position his webpage well. In this respect, I still am an unyielding advocate of SEO products and organic search. If it was all about the cash, the Fortune entities would squish me before I knew it. And there are hundreds of companies on the Fortune list! But here is another thing that irritates me and other backlink checker users, I am confident. There are individuals who invest in SEO software products and use them to sell beddingon casino sites and the like. What we are given is junk that not only takes over the web but is also highly positioned by search engines.
What is the user reaction to this? People search for SEO software reviews and will instead find junk SERPs. They get disappointed. So much for the “Internet democracy”. Does this imply that SEO product and service industry is harmful? Not necessarily.
The unethical users of SEO tools need to stop corrupting the Net but it’s like asking hackers to stop hacking. The sad thing about it is that black hat SEOs are abusing the chance to be seen on the Web that is given to the average person like myself. For now users just have to treat them. We can only hope that Google will put more emphasis on spotting the schemers unethically using SEO products, and if Google doesn’t, the new search engine will.
